The Shanghai International Art Fair Will Go Ahead as Planned

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the vibrant international art life had to cease its activity for an indefinite time. With the closure of the majority of art museums and galleries worldwide, many people gave in and came to terms with the fact that the situation would not simply resolve on its own. Surprisingly, the first steps have already been made. The Shanghai International Art Fair (SIAF) will go ahead as planned. The Chinese government assures that the situation is under control and the fair may stay on schedule, which means that all art lovers will be able to visit and enjoy the renowned show on November 19–22.

The Shanghai International Art Fair 2020

Several significant Chinese art fairs have been canceled or postponed. With the SIAF, the situation is a bit more favorable. The second edition of one of the biggest art events in China will be held traditionally at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai this November. Motivated by the trying circumstances, the Shanghai International Art Fair is expected to be even more spectacular and entertaining than its first edition.

This is great news for the whole art world. The SIAF has always been China’s most prominent cluster for the international art trade. Gathering nearly 80,000 visitors, among which are 15,000 art buyers, this fair may strike life into the frozen Chinese art scene and reinvigorate the international art scene overall. Such a decision will set an example for others. Hopefully, the situation with the virus will turn for the better, and we will hear more such reports.

In case you need professional help with shipping fine art to/from the SIAF, Fine Art Shippers has reliable and trustworthy partners in China. We have extensive experience working with galleries and collectors at numerous art fairs, and we would be happy to provide you with comprehensive art logistics services in China and the rest of the world.
