Religious Art by Andreas Piperidis
Andreas Piperidis was born in 1973 in Katerini, a beautiful city in northern Greece, which is believed to be named after the 4th-century Christian saint, Katherine of Alexandria. Andreas Piperidis has been passionate about art since he was a boy. His talent for sketching and drawing was already visible in elementary school. At the age of 12, the young artist created his first painting on an old door and since then has been developing his skills as a painter.
Andreas Piperidis is a self-taught artist who has been creating religious art for over 30 years. While he has never attended any professional art school, Piperidis apprenticed with the excellent hagiographers and painters, Giannis and Nikos Gogos, who helped him find his vocation in art.
Andreas Piperidis mainly works in acrylic on canvas. He also creates frescoes for temples throughout Greece. The artist focuses his religious art on the portraits of saints, but his portfolio includes a range of other topics and themes as well. For today, his impressive collection of artworks features nearly 5,000 paintings and 1,000 Byzantine-style icons that are held in private collections both in Greece and in many countries worldwide. Works by Andreas Piperidis have also been showcased at several group exhibitions and a solo show in Greece.
Andreas Piperidis’s passion for painting is great. His works are indeed pure and inspiring, so, hopefully, we will see more of them in the near future.
