Bensonhurst — The “Little Italy” in the Heart of Brooklyn, NY

New York is, without a doubt, one of the most creative and dynamic cities in the world. It is also one of the most religiously varied and ethnically diverse cities, which is home to so many distinct communities scattered throughout the five boroughs of NYC. Russians, Latin Americas, Hasidic Jews, Caribbeans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Koreans, Chinese, Irish, Indians, and many others are all living in New York, bringing their culture to complement the one already here. In this post, we want to tell you about a very special place in the heart of Brooklyn, which has long been home to Italians — the amazing neighborhood Bensonhurst that is often called the “Little Italy.”

Bensonhurst — The “Little Italy” in the Heart of Brooklyn

Bensonhurst is a beautiful and very atmospheric residential neighborhood located in the NYC borough of Brooklyn. It is where popular TV shows “Welcome Back Kotter” and “The Honeymooners” were set, and where Barbara Streisand, Scott Baio, Paul Sorvino, and Elliot Gould grew up. Once known as a Mafia neighborhood, Bensonhurst now attracts people with its neat brick row houses, quiet streets, and amazing art scene that offers something for everyone.

With a large Italian-American population, Bensonhurst is known as the main “Little Italy” of Brooklyn. It is no wonder that the food in this neighborhood is truly exceptional. For example, you should definitely visit the legendary “Lenny’s Pizza” that became famous when John Travolta ate two slices of pizza in the opening scene of the 1977 hit movie Saturday Night Fever. Bensonhurst actually has many great cafes, pizzerias, and restaurants to relax and enjoy the Italian atmosphere of this unique neighborhood.

At Fine Art Shippers, we love working in Bensonhurst, and we highly recommend that you visit the charming “Little Italy” of Brooklyn at your first opportunity.
